BUILDING PERMIT FEES

Residential Project Fees

$62 minimum fee up to and including $2,000 of project value plus;
$18 per $1,000 or any fraction thereof over $2,000 of project value

Examples:
Project value                           Permit Fee
Up to $2,000                           $62.00
$2,001 – $3,000                      $80.00
$3,001 – $4,000                      $98.00
$4,001 – $5,000                      $116.00

Trade permits associated with a residential building permit will be charged the above fees for the full value of the proposed work for the permit being applied for.

Commercial Project Fees

$62 minimum fee up to and including $2,000 of project value plus;
$18 per $1,000 or any fraction thereof over $2,000 of project value

Trade permits associated with a commercial building permit will be charged the above fees for the full value of the proposed work for the permit being applied for.

*The Building Official may request an affidavit of actual construction costs upon completion of any project which may result in reconciliation of additional permit fees*

Certificate of Occupancy Fee: $30.00
Re-inspection Fee (each re-inspection after the first re-inspection): $30.00

Note:

  • Fees are automatically calculated based on construction value in our online permitting portal.
  • Fees above include State of Connecticut mandatory educational fee of 26 cents per $1,000 of project cost per CGS 29-263

Building permit valuations. Per section R108.3 and 109.3 of the 2021 IRC and 2021 IBC portion of the 2022 SBC, The applicant for a permit shall provide an estimated permit value at time of application. Permit valuations shall include total value of work, including materials and labor, for which the permit is being issued, such as electrical, gas, mechanical, plumbing equipment and permanent systems. If, in the opinion of the building official, the valuation is underestimated on the application, the permit shall be denied, unless the applicant can show detailed estimates to meet the approval of the building official. Final building permit valuation shall be set by the building official.

Permit Fee Refunds. Permit fee refund requests will be evaluated on the reason for the permit cancellation, permit status and any town time spent on review and processing. Permit fee refunds are at the sole discretion of the Building Official
