Considering several recent occurrences, Stafford residents are asked to consider the following safety precautions and prevention tips:

• Avoid announcing vacations or when you will be away from home for long periods of time on social media. Wait until you get home to post your travel pictures.
• Whenever possible, refrain from listing your home address when selling items on social media platforms.
• Legitimate businesses typically do not request payment in the form of gift cards. Do not give personal information over the phone or online.
• Remove valuables, keys, and other visible items from vehicles, especially during the overnight hours. Always lock vehicles and report suspicious persons or vehicles immediately to the Stafford Resident Trooper’s Office at 860-684-3777 or Connecticut State Police (Troop C) in Tolland 860-896-3200.
