Main Street Sidewalk Replacement Updates

Main Street Sidewalk Replacement Updates

Ongoing Connecticut Department of Transportation construction activities have resumed on the roundabout and surrounding area at the intersection of Rt 190 and Rt 32 (effective 04/15/24). The limits of the project have been extended from the intersection of Main Street and Spring Street to approximately 91 Main Street.

Week of May 6 Update:
Notice of Construction Update from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation District 1 - Construction:

Currently, granite curb replacement and pouring of new stamped concrete sidewalks are taking place on the North side of Main Street from the Spring Street intersection to 91 Main Street.

This work commenced on April 19, 2024 and is approximately 65% complete. The granite curb replacement and stamped concrete sidewalk installation on the South side of Main Street from the Spring Street intersection to approximately 90 Main Street is scheduled to begin following the completion of the work on the North side. It is anticipated that this work will start between May 6th and May 13th.

There will be sidewalk closures and detours in place during construction for the safety of pedestrians. However, access to properties will be maintained as much as possible. Please plan accordingly for approximately one week of sidewalk impact with one day that you will not be able to use the sidewalk when the concrete is being poured.

Upon completion of the granite curb and sidewalk installation in the area West of the Spring St. there will be additional work in the vicinity of the roundabout. The work includes but not limited to the installation of the stamped concrete splitter islands, police station parking, new traffic signal installation at the Spring St. intersection and miscellaneous drainage work. We understand that the construction progress can be disruptive and frustrating, and we thank you in advance for your patience.

Week of April 29 Updates:

  • Main Street will undergo an alternating lane pattern from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 30 to May 2.
  • Drainage work will take place around Town Hall on Wednesday, May 1, and Thursday, May 2. While the Town Hall parking lot will remain accessible, parking spaces will be limited during this period.
